Work has already begun on the 1998 JCAA Fluke Tournament , which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 6, 1998. The format of the tournament will be similar to previous years. There will be at least 10 different weigh-in stations equally distributed throughout New Jersey, and at least $1,000 to the entrant who catches the largest fluke in each port. There will also be a grand prize of a boat, motor and trailer that will be awarded be a drawing among all entrants who are present at an awards banquet sometime following the tournament. There will also be second and third prizes awarded for the second and third largest fluke caught at each port. Plus, there will be youth prizes, and this year the JCAA hopes to award prizes for the largest striped bass and bluefish caught.

The tournament is the main means of financial support for the JCAA, and so it is important that all JCAA members help out with the tournament in whatever ways possible. Also, the weigh-in stations will once again be manned by members of the fishing clubs that support the JCAA, and the JCAA wants to thank those members who did that last year and also let them know that their help would be greatly appreciated again for this tournament. Volunteering to help with the tournament ultimately equals volunteering to help marine conservation. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the tournament this year, this is the time to make those suggestions, which will be greatly appreciated.

Also if anyone has any suggestions about who might be interested in being a sponsor of the tournament, please contact the JCAA as soon as possible. You may contact the Tournament Director, Mark Marquez, at 732-830-3373.
